About the event

Batik Easter egg decorating workshop

We return to one of the most beautiful, most atmospheric techniques of egg decoration – batik. These are the eggs made using hot wax, fire and intense colors. A bit of focus, the smell of wax and suddenly patterns emerge from beneath layers of color. Every time it has something magical about it.

How does it work? First we apply patterns with hot wax, then we dye in colors, and finally we remove the wax and reveal the effect. Simple in theory, in practice – totally absorbing.

Dates:

  • 17.03 (Tuesday), 11:00
  • 1.04 (Wednesday), 11:00

Duration:
approx. 3 hours

The workshop is free.

Registration: registration form

Who is it for?

  • For children of all ages.
  • Note – we work with hot wax and fire, so with younger children parental assistance is required.
  • Parents can also fully participate in the workshop.

Important organizational information:

  • The eggs will be dyed with food coloring (intense colors – may permanently stain clothes). Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained.
  • Each participant brings at least 3 eggs with light shells. These can be:
    • prepared emptied shells
    • hard-boiled eggs

This is a calm, long workshop – unhurried. There is time for focus, conversations, experimenting with patterns. Last year real little works of art were made and we are curious what will be created this time.

If you came last year – you know it’s worth it.
If you didn’t come – this is a good moment to try.
