About the event

How do Poles work on international film co-productions?

We invite you to a special screening of “Good Boy”, followed by a meeting with actress Monika Frajczyk. We will discuss her professional experiences in the United Kingdom, her collaboration with Jan Komasa on international projects, and working alongside distinguished actors such as Steven Graham and Andrea Riseborough.

The meeting will be hosted by Igor Kierkosz.

Monika Frajczyk – actress, graduate of the State Higher School of Theatre in Kraków. Since 2018 she has been associated with TR Warszawa.

Winner of the “Talent Trójki” Award (2018) and the Ignacy Lewandowski Special Award for an outstanding supporting role – the midwife Ewa in the play “Fragments of a Woman” directed by Kornél Mundruczó. Nominated for the Polityka Passport (2019) in the Theatre category. Monika Frajczyk is one of the most interesting representatives of the young generation of Polish actresses — active in theatre, film and television. Her participation in the international co-production Good Boy marks the next stage of her artistic development.

“Good Boy” is another international production by Jan Komasa, the Oscar-nominated director of “Corpus Christi” and the acclaimed films “Hatred” and “Warsaw 44”. The world premiere of “Good Boy” took place at the jubilee 50th Toronto International Film Festival. The film was invited to the prestigious Centrepiece section, which — as the organizers emphasize — “honours and celebrates global cinematic achievements”, presenting outstanding contemporary works from around the world. Komasa’s latest film draws you into a kaleidoscope of ambiguity from the first minutes and provokes deep reflection. A story that leads with dark humour while asking difficult questions about the limits of morality, without giving clear answers. It forces a confrontation with one’s own convictions and leaves no one indifferent.

Starring: Stephen Graham (Golden Globe winner for his moving role in the series “Industry”), Andrea Riseborough (“Birdman”), Anson Boon (“1917”, “Gangs of London”) and Monika Frajczyk (“Green Border”).

The production of “Good Boy” is handled by Oscar nominees for the film “IO”, Ewa Piaskowska and Jerzy Skolimowski, and by the renowned British producer, founder of Recorded Picture Company, Jeremy Thomas (“The Last Emperor”, “Sexy Beast”, “Only Lovers Left Alive”). The cinematographer is Michał Dymek, who has worked on Oscar-nominated films such as Magnus von Horn’s “The Here After”, Jesse Eisenberg’s “When You Finish Saving the World” and Jerzy Skolimowski’s “IO”. The screenplay was written by debutant Bartek Bartosik in collaboration with Naqqash Khalid.
