Improvisation Course Level 2,3: Emotions, Body, Space is a course where you will improve your ability to develop and deepen two-person scenes. You will develop awareness of body language, use of space, learn to build tension in a scene and consciously use stage status to add dynamics to your performance. We will focus on developing skills in the areas of: - Deepening scenes (emotions, deep relationships, character motivations) - Body language and invisible objects (physical theatre and pantomime) - Dynamic play (status play) - Building distinctive characters (embodying strong personalities and building characters during the scene) - Working with space – using space to build dynamics and tension in the scene How it will look The course consists of 8 workshops, ending with a performance. Meetings last 2.5 hours (2:15h workshop + 15 min break), totaling 18 hours of workshops. What we will work on We will learn how to build authentic, deep relationships on stage and how to develop your character based on the relationship with your partner. We will practice scenes with various emotions, learning to build tension and draw the audience into our world. We will focus on working with the body – learning how to consciously use movement and posture to build stories, characters, and the atmosphere of the scene. We will practice creating a world of illusion and playing with invisible objects to make scenes even more convincing and engaging. We will develop conscious use of the body in building distinctive characters and using space and time to create dynamics and tension in the scene. We will work on status play – learning to play high and low statuses through conscious movement, posture, and behavior. We will explore different sources of status and learn how to smoothly change them in a scene, without the need to dominate or "bully" your stage partner. In 2017, I discovered improvisational theatre and since then I have used it in creating and conducting educational workshops for teachers and educators internationally. I learned improvisation at off-site trainings and also developed my skills in pantomime, physical theatre, and non-formal methods, including theatrical ones (improvisation, mime theatre, physical theatre).
