📅 January 29th, 5:00 PM–7:00 PM 📍 University of Warsaw Botanical Garden, Aleje Ujazdowskie 4 💸 Admission to the opening is free.
⏺︎ Woventra is an original concept created for an installation in the Botanical Garden. It comes from English woven (the act of weaving or connecting fragments) and Latin ventra (that which is intimate and vulnerable).
⏺︎ This is not only for viewing. Woventra is an organism — a space to enter, immerse in, and experience. Reformed and reconstructed garments, once close to the body, become part of the installation. Pieces of clothing belonging to specific people — worn, abandoned, donated, intimate — carry traces of life, time, and presence. Izabela Chamczyk uses them to create a screen that comes alive through imagery.
⏺︎ Upcycling is a key method here — an act of environmental care and a rescue of matter. Discarded fabric fragments gain new life as a sensitive, irregular surface for video projection. The image on this meaning-laden woven screen reveals a subtle dialogue between the organic world and objects abandoned by humans.
⏺︎ In the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw, art intertwines with nature; the projection enters dialogue with vegetation, revealing it in a new, unexpected light. Woventra seeks a common language for art, natural processes and human presence on Earth — a sensitive project inviting immersion in an experience where matter comes alive as a carrier of memory, body and movement.
📅 The exhibition will be on display in the Botanical Garden Orangery from January 31st to March 1st, on weekends and public holidays, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM (when the greenhouses are open and temperatures do not drop below -5°C). Admission to the exhibition requires a greenhouse ticket.
💸 On weekends, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the exhibition is free of charge, but this does not guarantee access to the entire greenhouses.
