Japanese variety — blossoming cherry trees, huge cities, delicious food and other stories

Join an inspiring presentation about Japan — a country of contrasts, tradition and modernity. Blossoming cherry trees, bustling metropolises, serene temples, unusual customs and delicious cuisine — all will be told by Edyta Chrząszcz, a photographer and experienced traveler.

Japan was the 70th country we visited. This was our second attempt at the trip — the first was thwarted by the pandemic. We went for almost three weeks, traveling in spring during the cherry blossom season. We visited, among others:

  • Tokyo
  • Osaka
  • Kyoto
  • areas around Mount Fuji
  • Hiroshima
  • Rabbit Island
  • and many other interesting places that I will talk about during the lecture.

During the meeting you will learn:

  • what it's like to chase cherry blossoms,
  • what it's like to travel at 300 km/h (shinkansen),
  • how not to get lost in the subway among a million passengers and a thousand signposts,
  • why Kyoto is so beautiful,
  • what Hiroshima looks like now,
  • where to pet rabbits and why deer bow in Nara.

My stories will be illustrated with photographs from these places and pictures of delicious food and desserts.

I will also suggest how to organize an independent trip to Japan — so that everything goes well and you don't get lost in the maze of Japanese diversity. I will also explain where and how you can save money.

About the speaker:
Edyta Chrząszcz — photographer and traveler. I have been photographing since I was 17. I combine traveling with a full‑time job and, with only 26 days of vacation, I prove that nothing is impossible. I organize all trips myself with my husband — we have visited about 80 countries on 6 continents. We have been, among others, beyond the Arctic Circle, in Tierra del Fuego, Namibia, Peru, Nepal, Greenland, Tanzania and South Africa. Even the pandemic did not stop our travels — during it we visited 10 different countries.

I give photographic presentations (over 40), publish photos on social media and participate in festivals and photography workshops, including the Światłosiła festival in Sopot. Photography is my passion and a way to discover the world.
