Sza/Za Plays Animations | 26.02 DZiK
This time the wonderful duo SzaZa (Szamburski / Zakrocki) will confront themselves sonically and musically with cult animated films.
It will be an original roundup of the history of this genre in a nutshell. SzaZa will reach back to the sources — the beginning of the 20th century and Władysław Starewicz’s early stop-motion animations, then engage in dialogue with the experimental films of the Themersons, and finish with classics of Polish animation from the 1960s and 1970s (including Lenica, Schabenbeck, Szczechura, Sturlis).
Everything presented with the duo SzaZa’s characteristic precision and musical imagination, which follows the image and enters into an unusual and subversive dialogue. Instrumentarium: clarinet, viola, mbira, Moog, beatboxes, electronics — and two heads of seasoned members of the interdisciplinary section.
