About swing dances:
- Lindy Hop
Lindy Hop is one of the family of swing dances, its origins estimated in the 1920s and 1930s. It emerged within African-American communities in New York’s Harlem and is closely related to the Charleston, Jitterbug, Balboa and so-called Vintage Jazz. Its main advantage is its social character, which means Lindy Hop is danced primarily at social dances rather than as a competitive dance. Created by hard-working people who loved jazz and swing music. It uses natural human body movement so the dance isn’t overly exhausting or demanding extraordinary fitness, while still giving a lot of pleasure and joy. - Solo Authentic Jazz
Solo Authentic Jazz, Solo Charleston, Vintage Jazz — these names cover an incredibly joyful solo dance to swing music. It is based on connection with rhythm and musicality, and varied steps allow for free expression. You can dance alone, in a pair of soloists or in a whole group. Solo Jazz has many faces: from spontaneous interpretation of a saxophone solo at a social dance to a pre-prepared group choreography. It can be bouncy and wild, as well as delicate and precise.
