    About the event

When was the last time you got your hands dirty, touched the soil just for the joy of experiencing it? Last autumn, as part of an artistic residency at Ujazdowski Castle, I explored the pigment potential of soil materials. During the workshop, we will take a closer look at the soil and collectively appreciate its creative abilities. We will collect samples to paint with them later. We will study the color stain as the essence of color. We will experience the soil with multiple senses. Creative practices for me are about returning to childhood times, when we knew little and were constantly amazed. This workshop is about the joy of the process and earthly delights, both literal and metaphorical. Gosia Kępa comes from Świdnica. Photographer, visual artist, graduate of Social Psychology (SWPS University in Warsaw) and Photography (Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań). She works in various media, including photography, textiles, drawing, and objects. She is interested in broadly understood relationality. She deals with issues related to identity and coexistence. She is moved by nature and has a fondness for finding delight in organic forms. Photography is primarily a tool for her to meet another person. She has conducted workshops on analog photography techniques (such as cyanotype and anthotype), an open photography studio, and meetings around soil. In 2022, she participated in a Vistula artistic residency with the Flow collective, and since then, she has passionately explored aquatic themes. In 2023, she studied the topic of soil and ocean at the University of Lisbon. As part of her diploma project, in collaboration with three rivers, she analyzed different types of existence. In autumn 2024, she participated in an artistic residency at CSW Ujazdowski Castle, where she examined soil and explored the pigment potential of soil materials. 💰 Admission fee: 20 PLN. 📅 Information and tickets available at: https://u-jazdowski.pl/przyziemne-zachwyty-warsztat Photo — Gosia Kępa, courtesy of the artist.
