Is the Lord’s Supper merely a remembrance, a symbol, or a real encounter with Christ? During the lecture we will uncover a fascinating, often forgotten teaching of Reformed theology according to which, during the Supper, believers are spiritually lifted up to heaven by the Holy Spirit to truly participate in communion with the exalted Christ. We will see how this vision grows out of biblical Christology and how it represents a middle way between a purely symbolic understanding and the concept of a physical presence in the elements of bread and wine.
The meeting will help look with fresh eyes at the familiar words “Lift up your hearts” and discover how the Supper can become a deep experience of faith, unity with Christ, and spiritual strengthening. It is an invitation both to evangelical Christians and to everyone who wants to understand more deeply the mystery of communion with the Lord.
