We invite you to a unique weekly event at the Warsaw Zoo, held every Thursday at 2:00 PM, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the care of one of the most extraordinary residents of our Zoo – the Indian rhinoceros named Shikari. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to: - Witness a live medical training session, during which the Keepers take care of Shikari's health. During the training, you can observe, among other things, oral cavity checks, skin condition assessments, and hoof inspections. Everything is conducted with respect for the animal's comfort and full cooperation! - Learn how rhinoceros skin is cared for – you'll see how kaolin clay or specialized ointments are applied to sensitive areas such as ears, belly, and legs. This treatment not only improves skin condition but also soothes and protects against insects and irritations. - Listen to fascinating stories from the Keepers – you'll learn about Shikari's history, interesting facts about her species, and the daily work behind caring for this exceptional animal. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and expand your knowledge about Indian rhinoceroses and conservation efforts. What's more, every fourth Thursday of the month, contests with prizes will be organized as part of the meeting! You can't miss this. Thursdays with Rhinoceros Keepers is an event that combines education, animal welfare, and close contact with nature.
