Lecture – Can classical music be fun?
We invite children into the world of classical music. But is it really always “classical” in the solemn sense? During the meeting we will jointly consider whether classical music must always be dignified and ceremonious, or whether it can also be playful and surprising. Children will learn pieces by great composers who were not afraid to joke in their works – Haydn, Mozart and Rossini. They will find out how everyday sounds, animals or human emotions can be imitated on different instruments.
- Workshop I – The upside-down orchestra - What happens if the clarinet sounds like percussion, the conductor dances, and the whole orchestra plays backwards? Participants will create an "upside-down orchestra": improvisation, new rules, conducting each other and building a piece together. Inspirations will include fragments of classical works performed in an unusual way.
- Workshop II – Music makes faces - Can music smile, get angry, be surprised or pout? Children will discover pieces that “make faces” – through rhythm, melody and timbre they convey emotions and stories. Together we will try to imitate them with movement, gesture and sound. The classes will be full of laughter, improvisation and active listening.
