About the event

We invite you on an extraordinary journey into the very heart of wild nature. On Saturday, March 14, at 4:15 PM, at Kino Wisła there will be a special screening of the award-winning documentary “The Man from the Forest. Tales of Dziad Borowy”.

The director of the acclaimed film “Magic of Podlasie. Szeptuchy” this time reveals the figure of Tomasz Onikijuk — the legendary Dziad Borowy, guardian of forest traditions and narrator of old tales. The film also features Adam Wajrak, who enriches the story with a contemporary ecological perspective.

After the screening we invite you to a meeting with the film’s director. It will be an excellent opportunity to talk about the making of the documentary, working in the heart of the forest, and how the modern world affects the magical corners of Podlasie.

This is not only a beautiful, artistic portrayal of nature, but also an important voice in the discussion about issues happening here and now:

  • Protection of the primeval forest and the fight against tree felling.
  • The difficult situation on the Polish–Belarusian border.
  • The conflict between old tradition and the pressure of modernity.

The film has already been recognized internationally, winning the award for Best Feature Documentary at the Kodaikanal International Film Festival in India. Come feel the magic of Podlasie and reflect on our place in relation to nature and history. This is a screening that stays in the memory long after leaving the cinema.
