    About the event

From the excavation for a monastery to a popular amusement park with the city's largest concert hall and "Swiss-style" pavilions. The Swiss Valley, a place where everyone who wanted to be seen in elegant company spent their time. The valley once covered a much larger area, which was gradually reduced as streets were laid out and palaces, villas, and tenement houses were built. Today, all that remains of that Valley is a miniature garden with terraces, a fountain, socialist realist sculptures and monuments, and embassy buildings have taken over part of Chopin Street. The former charm and elegance of this area can be found in the neighborhood: in Aleja Róż and Aleja Przyjaciół. Aleja Róż, in the post-war years, was called the street of poets: Władysław Broniewski, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński, Antoni Słonimski, Kornel Makuszyński, Adam Ważyk, and Leon Kruczkowski lived here. Their neighbors were prominent figures from the world of politics. A little further on, we discover the most unique and unusual corner of Śródmieście – a place that practically survived World War II, namely Aleja Przyjaciół. Among its residents, we find the unforgettable music critic and publicist, extraordinary personalities from the music, opera, and theater scenes. - where was New Switzerland - how a pharmacist electrified Warsaw - can we find the Moomin Valley in the Swiss Valley - who was the "human boss" - whose guest was Bismarck's grandson - where did the "Vesuvius of humor" live - how did friends show their gratitude - who was the tyrant and terror of the neighborhood - what is hidden under the sail - who was called for consultations by the Queen of England and many other stories. 📅 Start: 30.11 (Sunday), 12:00, ul. Chopina 5B 🏁 Finish: Aleja Przyjaciół 👩‍🦰 The walk will be led by KASIA – a licensed Warsaw guide 📞 Tel. 505 023 782 🆓 Participation in the walk is free, but a tip after the walk will be appreciated We gently remind you that we put a lot of substantive and documentary work into preparing the walk to make it as attractive as possible for you.
