How can Axis Syllabus support Contact Improvisation. We invite you to a two-day workshop on contact improvisation and Axis Syllabus. During this workshop, we will dive into our own movement patterns — we will explore, break, and transform them before entering into contact with others. Using Axis Syllabus as a lens, we will refine the mechanics of falling and flying to unlock greater potential in our movement structures. We will explore solo and partner practices, moving through specific patterns and improvisational pathways to deepen our understanding of the principles of Contact Improvisation. We will address concepts such as landing pads, tensegrity, and dynamic bone mobility in motion. Along the way, we will ask ourselves questions: How can meeting the floor become a soft experience? How can biodynamics make movement both fluid and strong? How can I stay in my own flow while moving together with another person? We will jump, roll, soften, explore, and play. We will listen attentively — to each other, to music, and to the architecture of our bodies — and weave choreographic patterns that will support the transition to freer movement solo and in duets. The workshop will be conducted in Polish and English. 📅 When? - October 4–5 - Saturday: 10:00–13:00 and 14:30–17:30 - Sunday: 11:00–14:00 and 15:30–18:30 📍 Where? Inspired by international teachers of contact improvisation and contemporary dance, Zuza incorporates Axis Syllabus principles and the Underscore structure into her practice and facilitation. She passionately explores the dialogue between body and mind, combining analytical clarity with embodied presence — a thread that runs through her work in coaching, IT, and dance. For Zuza, movement is not just art but also a way to explore, deepen, and transform our lives and relationships. Joy and balance emerge in the process of co-creating spaces for dance and connection. Zuza teaches and facilitates contact improvisation and Axis Syllabus, co-organizes the Warsaw CI Flow festival, and co-creates https://contactimprovkohphangan.com, where she leads immersive 4–5-month journeys into the world of contact improvisation on Koh Phangan island in Thailand.
