GALERIA PROJEKT CAFE INVITES YOU TO A CONCERT Marcin Olak & Patryk Olak Marcin Olak: jazz guitarist, composer, improvising and experimenting musician, teacher. He plays acoustic and electric guitars, treating them in an original way. Typically, the guitar in jazz, regardless of type, functions as a linear instrument. Guitarists most often play with a pick, thus being able to play a single-voice melody or chords. Marcin Olak – a classically trained guitarist – plays differently. He creates multi-layered, complex textures, utilizing the dynamic and articulatory possibilities of the instrument – as is customary in the European guitar tradition. Thanks to this, the expressive possibilities become much closer to what listeners usually expect from a piano. Olak willingly moves on the border of various styles: between jazz and contemporary music, between closed and improvised forms. He performs and records solo and in ensembles: from free-jazz formations, through symphony orchestras, to classical chamber ensembles. Marcin also arranges and composes: he is the author of chamber works, jazz themes, and songs, and does not shy away from larger forms. Olak has performed at numerous festivals: Jazz Jamboree, JazzArt, Ad Libitum, Bridges, Fre3 Jazz Days, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, Warsaw Autumn, and many others. He has played with Liberty Ellman, Agusti Fernandez, Joelle Leandre, Steve Swell, among others. Marcin Olak is also an educator, conducting workshops on jazz and open improvisation. He has worked with students of the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He was invited to lead master classes at Musicollective (Gdańsk, PL), taught improvisation during the Summer Guitar Workshops in Krzyżowa and the International Guitar Workshops in Lanckorona. - Patryk Zakrocki: an artist interested in music, film, movement, and drawing. An independent Warsaw-based improvising musician and composer, active since 1998. He specializes in instant composition. He plays guitar, viola, mbira, and analog synthesizers. He performs solo, with other improvisers, and with bands he leads: Wolne Tańce, Polski Piach, and Leggerezza, and has co-created the duo SzaZa for 25 years. He is also involved in conducting improviser orchestras, music for contemporary dance, silent cinema, film, and theater. He has performed at the National Gallery Washington, Lucasfilm studios San Francisco, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Cornell University, Tokyo Jazz Festival, Tokyo Pit Inn, Teatro Solis Montevideo, and many other cities, countries, and festivals. 🎟️ Tickets: any amount into the hat / min. 30 PLN / collected during the concert. 📞 Seat reservation available: 501 704 266 As usual, we invite you to the bar for exquisite wines, beers, coffees, teas, as well as delicious cakes and snacks.
