The electrifying “GHSTING” is a project on the border between a concert and a performance. Combining spoken word, stage antics, dense synthesizers, acoustic narration and dark soundscapes, it creates a story that is menacing, unsettling, funny, turbulent, and at times subtly erotic.
Alex Freiheit (poet, vocalist, half of the duo SIKSA) and Aleksandra Słyż (composer, this year’s Paszport Polityki laureate) take us to a mysterious hotel somewhere in Eastern Europe. In the company of the hotel’s girls they weave a hypnotic tale about what is hidden, shameful, and dirty. Along the way we will meet, among others, chamber maids, hair rollers exploding on heads, and inflamed, furious eyelashes, while a dense, dark sonic layer mixing synthetic and acoustic fragments will accompany us through smoky lobbies and contaminated rooms.
Kantor created on stage the Poor Room of Imagination; Freiheit and Słyż invite us to room 303. There we will also meet figures from the past and ghosts demanding attention. They will entrust us with their story — to pass on their memories to someone before death and not become “just another, unwashed stain in your rented hotel”.
The event is part of the performance program for the exhibition “Kantor. Therapy of Visions”.
