World premiere of a composition by Marcin Molski

  • Ensemble of Church Music “Varslavia”
  • Aleksander Słojewski — tenor
  • Chamber ensemble
  • Conductor: Miłosz Bogić

“Passion” by Marcin Molski is a work dedicated to the Ensemble of Church Music “Varslavia”. The idea of creating “Passion” arose in 2023; a year later, after many discussions and consultations with specialists, work began on the libretto and music. The final shape of the work was reached in early February this year. The piece has an ecumenical character and combines Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and Mariavite cultures. The libretto was based on six different Bible translations used in various branches of Christianity. The multicultural work is a response to a changing society: the growing number of migrants from Ukraine and Belarus, the emergence of new branches of Christianity, the diversity of denominations in Poland and the increasing number of people leaving the church. It is a story of suffering, pain and the torment of an innocent person, which, by highlighting human aspects, can bring closer a universal catharsis.
