    O wydarzeniu

A spectacle-concert of songs composed by Paweł Mykietyn to the words of American poet Sara Teasdale, interpreted by Maja Laura. At the piano – for the first time in this role – the composer himself. ✨ PREMIERE 30.12.2025, 7:00 PM ✨ Next show as part of New Year's Eve at Nowy Teatr ✨ Tickets: 80 PLN [premiere] Main stage "In the third decade of the 21st century – the era of new media, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence – the form of a song with simple piano accompaniment is like a pen drawing," notes Paweł Mykietyn. Mykietyn undertakes a bold attempt to seek beauty using the simplest means of expression. The entire essence is reduced to melody with accompaniment, to the pure relationship between word and sound. Sara Teasdale's poems are known in Polish from translations by Anna Ciciszwil, in whose life the poet appeared surprisingly interestingly and unexpectedly, step by step and imperceptibly. In his note, Ernest Bryll considered this reincarnation extremely successful, expressing at the same time his belief in the "compulsion of wandering poems." Similarly, and just as unexpectedly, Sara's poems found their way into the hands of the creators of Nightfall. Although they seem archaic, simple, rhymed, and somewhat childish, they are – as the translator writes – in some way saturated with Sara's spirit. Their extraordinary melodiousness and rhythm made them ideal material for composers. The poet herself called them songs and, in this convention, showed her lyrical world to the reader. Her works have already been taken up by Susanne Abbuehl, Josephine Lindstrand, Marta Klouckova, and Andrzej Rejman; they have been sung by, among others, Aga Zaryan, Ewa Górska, Karolina Jankowska, Małgorzata Blaszyńska, and Sofia Fedyna. Joining the procession of composers and performers led by Sara Teasdale's lyrical path are Paweł Mykietyn – who will perform for the first time not only as a composer but also as a pianist – and Maja Laura, invited to the project, who will perform selected songs. graphics: Igor Kubik
