Love secrets, hidden ciphers and letters better left out of sight. Before voice messages and phone hearts, feelings had to be concealed in ink, abbreviations and clever codes. John Sobieski and Marysieńka had perfected this art.
During the Valentine's workshop we will look into the world of their correspondence: full of tender nicknames, longing and inventive ways to keep privacy. We will examine how people wrote about love in the 17th century and why some letters looked more like puzzles than declarations.
In the workshop part we will make sure every participant takes home a piece of the royal couple's feelings preserved on paper. We invite everyone who wants to discover that love on paper still works.
