    About the event

Themed guided tour of the exhibition “Forms of Presence. Art of the Carpathian Lemkos/Rusyns” The themed guided tour of the exhibition “Forms of Presence. Art of the Carpathian Lemkos/Rusyns” will be an opportunity to take a closer look at the symbolism of Lemko icons. Discovering the cultural identity of the Lemko/Rusyn community leads through its symbolic geography. At the center of this landscape are the mountains, the forest, the church, and the home — basic reference points saturated with meanings. These are not only elements of space but living carriers of memory, spirituality, and communal experience that together shape collective consciousness. “Forms of Presence. Art of the Carpathian Lemkos/Rusyns” is the first presentation in history with such a multidimensional display of works by artists of Lemko/Rusyn origin. The collected works form a polyphonic narrative that refers to minority experiences, through which the exhibition brings to light the hitherto little-recognized contribution of the Carpathian Lemkos/Rusyns to art and reveals the complex ways they function within various artistic traditions. Agnieszka Kleszcz – a graduate of ethnology at the University of Warsaw and art history at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University.
