About the event

GUIDED TOURS OF THE MNW PERMANENT GALLERIES



On Saturdays we invite you to guided tours of the Permanent Galleries of the National Museum in Warsaw. This is a great opportunity to get to know each of our collections in detail, learn about the history of the holdings and find out more about the artists presented in our galleries.

Participation rules: tickets priced 30 or 15 PLN, available at the ticket office and online from Tuesday at 10:00 – two weeks before the event

The program of the upcoming Saturday tours:



  • 7 February — Olga Boznańska – an artist of the late 19th century / Monika Jabłońska
    Olga Boznańska was a painter with an individual style. During the tour we will talk about her technique, the atmosphere of her paintings and the cultural contexts and women’s emancipation at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The tour includes a temporary display of Olga Boznańska’s works in the 19th-Century Art Gallery and her paintings shown in the permanent exhibition.

  • 14 February — Gazes, gestures, subtleties. Queer threads in the MNW collection / Marcin Matuszewski
    The tour brings closer queer contexts, non-heteronormative narratives and alternative readings of works from the collection. An invitation to look at art from an inclusive perspective open to multiple interpretations.

  • 21 February — Medieval puzzles / Katarzyna Ampt
    A meeting devoted to iconography and amusing, surprising details of medieval art; analysis of selected motifs and histories of sculptures and paintings that combine the sacred with everyday life.

  • 28 February — Grand Tour – the great journey of the collector / Monika Miżołębska
    A story about the Grand Tour tradition, the educational journey of the aristocracy through Europe and its influence on shaping taste and art collections; stories about artists and places worth visiting.

  • Monika Jabłońska — art historian, working at the National Museum since 2014; interested in medieval art.
  • Marcin Matuszewski — museum educator, Warsaw guide, anthropologist and accessibility specialist.
  • Monika Miżołębska — art historian, educator and author of audio descriptions in the Medieval Art Gallery.
  • Kacper Piszczek — educator at the National Museum in Warsaw, art history student.
