    About the event

    Meeting: "PUK" by Tadeusz Dąbrowski

We invite you to a meeting about the poetry volume "PUK" by Tadeusz Dąbrowski. The conversation with the author will be led by Barbara Rojek.

    📅 27 February, 6:00 PM
📍 PIW Bookshop, ul. Foksal 17

"PUK" is the universal voice of a citizen of the world, a voice claiming — not in the tone of a manifesto, but in the manner of a direct conversation like a handshake — for the place of poetry in increasingly unpoetic times.

However, the poet does not resent contemporary reality; rather he tries to notice on the dump of values what can still nourish us or what — thanks to metaphor — can be recycled into truth and beauty.

His new volume of poems contains everything that is "Dąbrowski": lightness, irony, wit, precision, concreteness and sensitivity to the "metaphysical radiation of the background".

Dąbrowski, anointed by Tadeusz Różewicz and honored — among many other awards — with the Kościelski Foundation Prize, is the most frequently translated poet of his generation. His poems have appeared in over thirty languages, and in the United States and Germany he is among the most recognizable living Polish poets.
