TOGETHER WE MADE IT. 80 YEARS OF REBUILDING WARSAW! JOIN US FOR TWO MONTHS OF CELEBRATIONS It’s no secret that Warsaw is a city of uprisings – we learn enough about it in school. However, there’s one uprising that is remembered far too rarely – the uprising of Warsaw from the dead. In Poland, we unfortunately often forget that the “rising from rubble” wasn’t achieved by the forces of one regime or another, but through collective, grassroots action. To the barbarity of fascist Germany, the people of Warsaw opposed their determination. The ruins of the city became a blank canvas on which architects, urban planners, and ordinary people realized their dreams of Warsaw. Of a Polish capital full of light, greenery, and homes built to meet the needs of residents, not the pursuit of profit. On the 80th anniversary of the start of the reconstruction, the Warsaw district of the Razem party wishes to honor this heroic effort. We have planned a series of walks, debates, meetings, a film screening, and urban actions. We want to show that the rebuilding continues and that good governance is crucial to ensure we don’t squander what previous generations achieved. Unfortunately, today it seems that by handing the city over to the free market, we are making mistakes that were supposed to never happen again. Let’s not allow the reconstruction to go to waste.
