📅 07.09 / 12:30 Auditorium Free admission thanks to cooperation with Audi Event translated into PJM Join us for a meeting with Katarzyna Witt, the author of the text, and Ola Niepsuj, the illustrator of the book "Why Do We Need Art?". Actor Sebastian Pawlak will read excerpts from the book, and Magda Majewska from the portal Mosty z książek will lead the discussion with all participants. The meeting will be accompanied by educational workshops. The book by Katarzyna Witt, an art historian, educator, and author of publications for children, offers a unique encounter with modern art – in a form that is attractive and friendly to the youngest readers. Illustrated by Ola Niepsuj, it combines a visual atlas with texts, creative tasks, and illustrations that spark the imagination of young readers. And it might make them laugh. The artworks featured in the book from the MSN collection encourage readers to observe closely and interpret on their own. They inspire and invite independent engagement with art. The book is filled with questions about art – where it comes from, what it is for, why and how it changes, and the main characters of the book help find the answers. "This is a book about how art often asks questions rather than answers them. So maybe in a museum, it's not worth worrying: do I understand this, is this serious, can I do this too? Because often, you don't need to understand it completely, and sometimes art is not serious. What's more, sometimes it turns out that yes – you can do this too! Art doesn't follow the rules of a classic fairy tale or TV series, where everything leads to a more or less happy ending. Many works seem to come from a distant planet and speak their own language. This book is about the joys of grappling with mystery, allowing yourself to journey into the unknown. And about playing hide and seek." – Sebastian Cichocki, exhibition curator. The meeting is accompanied by educational workshops.
