During the event, the PoKolędzia JP2 Choir and the instrumental ensemble Friends of PoKolędzia will perform. The performers will present the most beautiful Polish carols and pastorals in wonderful vocal-instrumental arrangements. The repertoire will include, among others, 'Wśród nocnej ciszy,' 'Lulajże Jezuniu,' 'Gore gwiazda Jezusowi,' 'Gdy się Chrystus rodzi.' The concert will also feature the premiere of a piece by Belarusian composer Marat Abramian. This work is inspired by Polish Christmas songs, created specifically for this occasion.
Admission is free!
_____________
The event is part of the 10th edition of the PoKolędzie JP2 initiative, during which, from January 2 to February 2, choirs, bands, and parish scholas go caroling to places with limited access to culture, such as orphanages, social welfare homes, and detention centers. This year, on the occasion of the jubilee, the John Paul II Thought Center is organizing a two-day music workshop for participants, culminating in this concert.
The name 'PoKolędzie JP2' is not accidental. It refers to the Polish tradition of communal music-making, meeting, and exchanging New Year's wishes, but it is also associated with 'Generation JP2,' as the initiators of the initiative were its representatives. So far, several thousand people have participated in the 'PoKolędzie JP2' initiative, including carolers, patients, students, and inmates. Over 200 caroling meetings have been organized, involving more than 200 musical groups.
