[SIC!] SAUTE
The event takes the form of cyclical evenings featuring individuals associated with the Polish improvisational scene. It is an emanation of the international dance improvisation festival, which since its first edition in 2007 has presented and introduced methods of creation, presentation, and education through improvisation that were little known in Poland at the time. Now the situation has changed, and we can confidently say that this field of art exists and is developing. Therefore, we need constant and regular presentations! And that is exactly what the Improvised Dance Scene [sic!] in the “saute” edition offers.
“Saute” is a process that is discovered and quite raw. The meaning and form of saute.
We have a body, we have thought, imagination, a floor. We have the entire external and internal world, contexts and reasons to create. And we draw from the resources of the “queen” of creativity - improvisation, which demands a lot and offers even more. It is a process that never ends, has inexhaustible creative possibilities, and is essentially 100% life in life. It encompasses many methods and techniques of precise creation, where the process is synonymous with the final action.

Maria Stokłosa
“Improvisation is for me a risk and an unconditional love for being human. It is an exaggerated practice of honesty and embodying what circulates within me and around me, of which I am composed at a given moment.”
Maria Stokłosa combines dance improvisation with transcending the boundaries between artistic and social activities. She engages others in creative processes, ignoring the difference between art and science and education. She creates performances in the field of experimental choreography. As the president of the Burdąg Foundation and a member of the Center in Motion, she works for the development of dance. She is a member of the Berlin-based cranky bodies a/company. She graduated in choreography from SNDO in Amsterdam, London Contemporary Dance School, and cultural studies from IKP at the University of Warsaw.
Scene curators
Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska
“In improvisation, I allow myself a stream of thoughts, a scrawl of movements, catching a wave and abandoning it (and at any moment - sometimes when it is at its peak, and sometimes when it is just gaining momentum). It doesn’t have to be linear; it can go in different directions.”
Performer, choreographer, business trainer, and philologist. Her works have been presented in Berlin, Budapest, Philadelphia, New York, Melbourne, Warsaw, and Vienna, among others. A scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Alternative Dance Academy 2015-2017 Art Stations Foundation, Intensive Course at SNDO in Amsterdam, and a beneficiary of Global Practice Sharing at Movement Research in New York. A graduate of the Experimental Choreography II course at the Center in Motion. In 2022, she completed the BODY-MIND CENTERING® course organized by the Somatische Akademie in Berlin.
Ilona Trybuła
When I am in a state of improvisation, I am in an absolutely sincere and real state of being. “I don’t know” tastes different there. One movement opens a world and causes an avalanche of events. Precisely and transparently and just as it should be.”
Ilona Trybuła - dancer, choreographer, lecturer, creator, and organizer of many artistic and educational events. Author of performances.
She created the International Dance Improvisation Festival (sic!), Melba Collective, Improvisation Laboratory, and the improvised dance scene [sic!] saute. Improvisation as a creative method and stage language in contemporary dance and choreography is a field she practices, discovers, and studies. She situates it within the philosophy of being where the ordinary and everyday become extraordinary.
