We invite you to an author meeting with Mariusz Szczygieł.
Mariusz Szczygieł – writer, reporter, journalist, writer, academic lecturer.
➡️ Since 1990, associated with 'Gazeta Wyborcza'. Besides Hanna Krall, he is the most frequently translated living Polish reporter; his books have been published in 21 countries.
➡️ For 'Gottland,' he received the European Book Prize 2009, and in Poland, the Nike Readers' Award. Winner of the Journalist of the Year 2013 title in the Grand Press competition. For 'Nie ma,' he received the double Nike Award 2019 (chosen by the jury and readers).
➡️ He debuted at the age of 16 in the weekly 'Na przełaj.' In the 90s, he was known for hosting the talk show 'Na każdy temat.'
➡️ Czechophile, author of several bestselling books about the Czech Republic ('Gottland,' 'Zrób sobie raj,' 'Laska nebeska'). Author of the monumental three-volume anthology of Polish reportage of the 20th century '100/XX.'
➡️ Awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland with the Polonia Restituta order.
➡️ Teacher of many young generation reporters, conducts author classes at the Polish School of Reportage. He received the Authority Award 2015 in the Mediator competition, awarded by students from all journalism schools in Poland. He is the president of the Institute of Reportage Foundation, which runs the well-known bookstore-café Wrzenie świata in Warsaw and the publishing house Dowody.
