ABOUT THE EVENT
We are starting the activities of the City Embroidery Club. We aim to create a safe and friendly meeting place where we will share our experiences while embroidering. Both embroidery-related and any other experiences.
It will not be the technique that matters here, but the shared creative time. Ewa Cieniak, your guide, will help you with this by preparing thematic proposals, sketches, and patterns that you can use for inspiration to create your own work.
We will primarily talk about relationships between different people, sometimes friends, family members, or community members, but also about interspecies relationships – between humans and other beings with whom we share the Earth.
LEADERSHIP
Ewa Cieniak – artist, graduate of the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw, scholarship holder of the MKDiN, author of many artistic and participatory actions and workshops. One of the techniques she uses is embroidery. She also utilizes the unlimited possibilities offered by fabric, fiber, and threads. She explores the performative and sculptural potential of these 'materials.' She is constantly searching and experimenting. However, she is invariably interested in people, their faces, emotions, and the relationships between them. The result is a product of her knowledge about the heroines and heroes of her projects, observations, reflections, but also following her intuition. Intuition plays a very important role in the artist's work. She also observes what is happening around her: in the social space, locally, globally, in nature. If she believes she has something to say about it – something that she thinks is worth saying because it may influence positive change.
See you at the Museum.
