According to Carl Gustav Jung, 'persona' is our second 'self' created for others to meet their expectations. Behind it hides the 'shadow' – our dark temptations and bad inclinations. The titular 'K2' symbolizes two women: a mother and a daughter, whose relationship transcends the boundaries of realism. In the performance, the Actresses embody – and thus PERSONIFY – the characters of MOTHER AND DAUGHTER, based on Jung's concept of PERSONA and its SHADOW.
The play draws inspiration from emotionally charged films by Ingmar Bergman, such as 'Persona' and 'Autumn Sonata,' creating new, tension-filled interpretations.
The creators of the performance try to feel and understand how the figure of the MOTHER – the queen, the authoritative mother, the dominant mother, and the indifferent mother can transform into the figure of the co-feeling MOTHER, transcending the boundaries of her selfishness. Can one develop wings with such a mother? What must happen for the daughter to regain her sense of self-worth? Is forgiveness possible at all on the MOTHER-DAUGHTER line? After living in a land of ice, can one muster a warm gesture that may bring a feeling of catharsis, purification, and restitution? What force can make it possible to find true closeness and reconciliation in this complicated relationship entwined with the umbilical cord, where love mixes with hatred, and mutual repulsion with attraction? Is this even possible – both in the space of theater and in life?
