We invite you to a special screening of the epic 'Dovbush. The Secret of the Black Mountains' directed by Oles Sanin at the Kyiv Cinema on December 29
About the film:
'Dovbush. The Secret of the Black Mountains' is a historical epic directed by Oles Sanin, an award-winning filmmaker of documentaries and feature films. The plot takes the viewer to the 18th century, to the picturesque Carpathians, where the legend of the Hutsul ataman, Dobosh, is still passed down from generation to generation, evoking insurrectionary and revolutionary emotions. Under the pressure of the brutal rule of the local nobility, Alexey, devastated by personal tragedy, is captured and thrown into a dungeon. However, the strength of tradition and family ties forces him to escape and hide in the mountains, where after a fratricidal struggle he becomes the leader of the local population's rebellion against the oppression of Polish and Hungarian magnates. Leading the uprising, he behaves like the legendary Robin Hood, who, along with his band of robbers, plunders the rich to distribute the acquired treasures to poor peasants.
The main roles are played by Sergey Strelnikov and Agata Buzek, with Mateusz Kościukiewicz and Daniel Olbrychski also appearing on screen.
The film is in Ukrainian with Polish subtitles
