Krystyna Prońko is a graduate of the Academy of Music, Jazz and Popular Music Department in Katowice (diploma 1979 with the rector's award from the then-Rector Henryk Górecki).
She began her artistic work, as an amateur, with the family band 'Reflex' (1968) along with her brothers, Piotr - saxophonist and Wojtek - double bassist and guitarist, as well as with musician friends.
Her first professional band was 'Respekt,' formed in Rzeszów in January 1970. The band consisted of an expanded rhythm section, a brass section, and a female choir.
In the 1970s, she collaborated in the choir with Czesław Niemen, Skaldowie, Czerwone Gitary, and as a soloist in the Koman Band led by Janusz Koman.
She also worked with the Warsaw Orchestra of Polish Radio (Jazz Studio S1)
The years 1987-1989 marked her collaboration with the Gustav Brom Orchestra (Slovakia)
She is a multiple laureate of the Polish Song Festival in Opole. She was a guest at the International Song Festival in Sopot, in Castlebar (Ireland), Dresden (then GDR), and Sochi (then USSR). She has participated multiple times in the Jazz Jamboree Festival in Warsaw and performed at the Prague Jazz Festival (Czech Republic).
She hosted her own radio and television programs (1992-1995).
From 1989 to 1993, the Prońko siblings formed the band 'Prońko Band,' in which Krystyna played a leading role. With this band, she recorded several songs for her first gold album, which included the song 'You Are the Cure for All Evil.'
Since 1991, she has been running the company P. M. Krystyna Prońko, aimed at continuing her artistic work under her own banner and publishing, which has released many self-published albums. From 2000 to 2010, she led a singing class at the Music Institute of the Artistic Department of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin.
Her repertoire includes undeniable hits: 'Rain in Cisna,' 'Let My Heart Rock You to Sleep,' 'Paper Birds,' 'Morning Tears,' 'Anger,' 'You Are the Cure for All Evil,' 'Psalm of Those Waiting in Line.'
She participated in the musical performance '3,400 Years After Icarus' (1977) music by Janusz Koman, lyrics by Bogdan Olewicz, and the oratorio 'Kolęda Nocka' (1981) in the role of a woman from the estate - music by Wojciech Trzciński, lyrics by Ernest Bryll, staged at the Musical Theatre in Gdynia. The performance was removed from the poster on the day of the introduction of Martial Law in December 1982.
Her discography includes LPs, CDs, DVDs, and MCs (audiocassettes), including three gold records; LP Krystyna Prońko 1983-Pronit M004, LP 'Kolęda Nocka' 1981 -SPL4017, CD 'Albo inaczej' Alkopoligamia- ALK 10.
She sings pop and jazz standards with equal ease. She likes to mix musical genres because, as she says, 'it's boring to sing the same thing all the time.'
