The performance “(M)OTHERS” focuses on an expanded concept of motherhood, encompassing not only biological relationships but also social and territorial ones. The theme of MOTHER takes on an abstract form, reaching deeper than just genetic or social relationships. It is an attempt to explore this universal role of 'MOTHER' that each of us carries within, regardless of gender, age, sexual identity, skin color, degree of ability, or education. “(M)OTHERS” raises questions about the nature of family relationships, their durability, and possibilities for transformation. The choreography is a kind of 'double duet' – an energetic dialogue between two, three, and sometimes four bodies: silence, city, play, community, senses, chameleon, dragon, stranger, other. Although gender does not always play a decisive role, it sometimes generates certain human behaviors. In our world, not everything is unambiguous. The search for the essence of humanity often transcends the binary category of gender. The idea of the performance opens a space for reflection on empathy, social expectations, and love despite differences. The search for a broader perspective on this topic is also very important, particularly regarding MOTHER EARTH. The performance is a collage of images, memories, choreography, words, musical postcards, and dreams.
The idea of the HOTELOKO collective's activities:
The collective creates artistic, educational, and social projects touching on themes such as community, freedom, tolerance, empathy, queer, mental well-being, democracy, education, human rights, the fabric of the city, and cultural identity. The main idea is to pay special attention to topics related to ecology: green transformation, drinking water, solar energy, climate change, and the future of our planet. The voice of women is also very important: discussion around gender equality and strengthening communities around ecofeminism. We aim to promote sustainable development – balance in dance and movement, one element of which is producing fewer new choreographic works, rather than the possibility of presenting those that have already been created.
