Bento is a portable meal in a box originating from Japanese tradition. It is becoming increasingly popular in Poland as an alternative to sandwiches. This form of meal probably existed in Japan as early as the 10th century, and the word 'bento' emerged in the 16th century during wartime, meaning a meal distributed to warriors.
Today in Japan, there are various forms of bento: ready-made bento can be purchased in stores or kiosks at the station to enjoy a meal on a picnic or while traveling; restaurants serve bento as a beautiful lunch set in a box-like dish; for school or trips, mothers prepare it in the morning for their children, and for work, homemade bento is often prepared by oneself. Do you want to learn how to make such homemade bento!?
Homemade bento creatively prepared with delicious and good ingredients – it's simply packed love in a box! It's also a healthy and economical form of food!

Instructor: Seiko’s Japanese Kitchen
Seiko Harada has been teaching Japanese home cooking for a year and a half in Krakow. She previously lived for 15 years in the northern part of Australia and met her Polish husband. Six years ago, they moved to Poland, and unfortunately, Seiko began to have health problems due to the drastic change in climate conditions – from tropical to quite cool surroundings. She then became interested in healthy ways of living, with healthy eating at the forefront. She started creating Japanese fermented specialties at home, such as kōji, miso, and nattō – and now she maintains excellent shape! She even has an official certificate allowing her to teach how to make miso.
