In 1725, at the imperial court in Vienna, the five-act opera by the Venetian composer Antonio Caldara with a libretto by Apostolo Zeno was premiered. Venceslao re di Polonia soon disappeared from the stage. The score of the work was discovered in the Vienna archives by Martyna Pastuszka, who, along with {oh!} the Orchestra, brought it back to life after more than 300 years. The action of the opera is set in Krakow, inspired by the history of Władysław IV Vasa.
