10.11.2024, 12:00 - 13:30
I invite you to a walk at noon through the charming, small town located at the foot of the Royal Castle. We will discover two faces of Mariensztat: the new and the old.
We will also visit an incredibly interesting part of my hometown Powiśle. And here is how beautifully Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński wrote about Mariensztat in the poem
'Mariensztat Madness'
'...MARIENSZTAT IS MY INSPIRATION,
MARIENSZTAT IS A PRECIOUS STONE,
IN MARIENSZTAT YOU WILL DISCOVER WARSAW
MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN DREAMS.'
During the walk, we will learn, among other things:
# where the old mechanism of the escalator is hidden
# which Maria the name Mariensztat comes from
# which street was called Gnojowa
# where Mr. Zagłoba fought with monkeys
# where the hotel center was located
# where the spa centers stood
# what happened in the parking lot by Bednarska
# what the guests of Chopin competitions have in common with a certain house
# where the then highest residential building stood
# who teased and pinched Andrzej Łapicki's ear
# what is wrong with the Mariensztat market vendor
# what can be built in 19 days
# who discovered Józef Ignacy Kraszewski
Start: 10.11 (Sunday), at 12 PM, by St. Anne's Church on Krakowskie Przedmieście.
End: Mariensztat Market
Duration of the tour is about 90 minutes
The walk will be led by KASIA - a blogger and licensed Warsaw guide.

Participation in the walk is free, but a tip after the walk will be warmly welcomed.
We humbly remind you that we put a lot of effort into the substantive and documentary preparation of the walk to make it as attractive as possible for you.
