Flamenco is not just music and dance – it is an art and a lifestyle, pulsating with the energy of Andalusia. It tells stories about very natural and human matters – both difficult and pleasant. Joy, love, longing, death, pain … People all over the world desire the same and rejoice and weep in the same way – hence the phenomenon of its popularity.
The music and dance of flamenco carry both energy, strength, hope, sunshine, but also longing, suffering, love, faith … It is an art with a centuries-old tradition and at the same time so close to humanity, naturally blending into our emotions… Together we will transport ourselves to beautiful Andalusia, full of life celebrations, the scent of orange blossoms and jasmine. Flamenco is created by the interconnected singing, dancing, and music. The singing, based on rhythm, was the first to take shape. The dance appeared somewhat later, initially serving as a form of illustration to the songs. Flamenco dance is most often solo – it is an individual form of expression, always containing an element of improvisation.
During the classes, we will learn various ways of expression, so that we can collectively feel the immense wealth that the world of flamenco brings. During the classes, we will first get to know tangos. This style is one of the most traditional in flamenco. It has many variations related to the place of origin or due to the interpretation of outstanding flamenco singers. Originally and naturally sensual, beautiful, full of expression in both female and male versions, it is danced to a rhythm of 4.
Outfit: a comfortable outfit that does not restrict movement is recommended (cotton t-shirt/sweater, pants/leggings, long and wide skirt) and shoes with heels / with a hard sole.
