We invite you to a joint performative cooking יױך (jojch), that is, broth with קניידלעך (knejdlech) – matzo balls and other vegetable additions 🍲
We were inspired by the painting by Majer Kirszenblat 'Mother and Soup Pot', which you can see at the exhibition '(po)JEWISH… The Shtetl of Opatów through the eyes of Majer Kirszenblat'.
As the painter recalled: “The soup simmered all day on a low flame. And so, from time to time, I threw various additions into it, a bit of carrot, a potato, a handful of groats, pieces of chicken, and even beef. By the end of the day, the soup was ready.”
This time the soup will be vegetarian.

Maria Toboła – interdisciplinary artist. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, and then new media at the ASP in Poznań and ASP in Warsaw. She defended her diploma in Leszek Knaflewski's studio in Poznań. She skillfully combines both traditional and new artistic media, focusing on conveying the concept behind her actions. The elements connecting her works are absurdity, irony, humor, nostalgia, and melancholy, with which the artist comments on reality. The artist also reaches for culinary art, which she combines with purely conceptual reflection. She plays with the simplicity of images present in collective memory, such as a car loaded with Kucharek spice or kebab. Together with Maria Magdalena Kozłowska, she co-creates the performative-cabaret duo Małpeczki.
