Place: Centrum w Ruchu at the Wawer Cultural Center, ul. Żegańska 1a, Warsaw

For whom: for all individuals interested in movement aged 16+
A sense of lightness, heaviness, density, flow, readiness to connect with the world, the need for movement and expression, the need for stillness and contemplation, a sense of balance. We have space in our daily lives for various states, which are supported differently by our environment. Some we may long for, others we may be bored with, and we may not even suspect the existence of some.
All these states exist in relation to our physicality, and through working with the body, we can reach and transform them. Studying, somatization, embodying anatomy and developmental patterns opens us to new qualities of movement, psychophysical states, and expands the spectrum of our human experience.
In a friendly atmosphere, in the spirit of a culture of agreement, valuing individual experience and creating a temporary community embodying the possibility of coexistence in diversity, we will experience movement and expression through the prism of the senses, the skeletal system, internal organs, developmental patterns and reflexes, endocrine glands, the nervous system, fluids, muscles, fascia, and ligaments.
We invite individuals interested in performing arts, somatics, and those exploring the field of choreography, as well as all people of varying degrees of ability and relationship with movement.
NATALIA ONIŚK:
engages in improvisation and conscious work with the body, works as an educator, artist, event producer, and activist in the Polish dance community. She works best in dialogue and relationship, interested in developing forms and strategies of co-thinking, co-feeling, and co-being. Body-Mind Centering®, Authentic Movement Discipline, process work, ecosomatics, and queer ecology provide a framework for her artistic explorations in the field of experimental choreography.
Years of activity at the intersection of artistic and educational endeavors, project management, and education have given her the experience of creating spaces for meetings that support individual development and contribute to building bonds, creating community, and a sense of belonging. Natalia sees how deepening sensitivity, contact with one's body, and connection with the creative environment supports all individuals, both those with artistic aspirations and those unrelated to the world of art.
DESCRIPTION OF THE CYCLE:
Mornings in movement are regular classes focused on movement awareness based on contemporary dance, improvisation, and related techniques, as well as strategies for attracting attention to the body. They are aimed at all individuals over 16 years of age, regardless of ability, possibilities, and experience. During the classes, individual, partner, and group exercises may be interwoven.
The meetings serve to develop movement experiences, increase self-awareness, and knowledge of contemporary dance and new choreography. The meetings will be conducted in the format of 2-month cycles by artists associated with the informal Warsaw association Centrum w Ruchu. The project is funded by the capital city of Warsaw.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The Burdąg Foundation has received a three-year grant from the capital city of Warsaw for the project 'Body – my home. Cultural education through movement practice.' This means that for three years, free morning choreographic classes, monthly weekend movement workshops for families, and social choreographic projects culminating in a performance aimed at various groups will take place at the Centrum w Ruchu headquarters. The curators of the project are Maria Stokłosa, Weronika Pelczyńska, and Justyna Czarnota, and all classes will be led by artists associated with Centrum w Ruchu, as well as invited guests.
