FORMALLY SPEAKING
Sculptural images of Fryderyk Chopin
Dates:
🔹 October 20 at 14:00
🔹 November 17 at 14:00
🔹 December 8 at 14:00
Full-round sculpture is one that can and should be viewed from every side and at various angles. Only after making a full turn will the form we have before us clearly speak to us. Therefore, form and rotation are key words in the concept of the exhibition.
We present eighteen imaginative sculptural portraits of Fryderyk Chopin from the MFC collection. All were created in the 20th century by various artists, and their formal diversity indicates that today attempts to recreate the composer's appearance largely depend on shaping his image according to one's own imagination.
The entire exhibition is also meant to evoke glass palace galleries – the ancestors of contemporary museums – in which classical statues were arranged so that the viewer could appreciate the qualities of individual sculptural works in full, natural light.
The tours are led by Dr. Małgorzata Zawadzka, the curator of the exhibition.
📌 Admission is included in the museum ticket price.
