The Museum of Caricature in Warsaw invites you to an exhibition dedicated to various warriors known from manga and anime. In recent years, Japanese manga has become a cultural phenomenon. The power of manga attracts readers worldwide. This is also true for Poland, where manga has gained popularity among readers of all ages.
The exhibition ᗰᗩᑎGᗩ. ᗪᖇOGᗩ ᗯOᒍOᗯᑎIKᗩ showcases the diversity of Japanese manga styles, explains its origins, and its historical and cultural contexts. It shows how manga has evolved in a changing world and what role it plays in Japanese society.
In every generation, warrior characters have contributed to the popularity of Japanese manga abroad. The titular warrior initially evokes associations with samurai characters from jidaigeki. However, this is not an exhibition about Japanese knights. Themes of combat run throughout the exhibition, also serving as a metaphor for struggles with the world and life. Every heroine is a warrior. Every hero is a warrior.
The exhibition ᗰᗩᑎGᗩ. ᗪᖇOGᗩ ᗯOᒍOᗯᑎIKᗩ is an opportunity to see characters from well-known series such as Naruto, Dragon Ball, and One Piece. The exhibition will also feature Denji from Chainsaw Man and Hoshino Ai from Oshi no Ko. The theme of the journey will be integrated into the layout of the exhibition and will have its digital counterpart. QR codes will be woven into the path, leading us to additional information. In addition to graphics, the exhibition will showcase artifacts and gadgets related to manga – unique items valued by collectors, such as figurines, cards, and other items associated with manga.
The curator of the exhibition ᗰᗩᑎGᗩ. ᗪᖇOGᗩ ᗯOᒍOᗯᑎIKᗩ is Radosław Bolałek. The exhibition is being realized in collaboration with manga publishers from Poland and Japan.
