Mumio is a scenic madness – staging, literary, musical. They are extremely consistent in realizing their original vision of humor. They love all human stumbles and awkwardness. However, they do not mock them, but approach them with tender interest and present them in performances with the help of excellent acting skills.
Actors Jadwiga and Dariusz Basiński and Jacek Borusiński, after experiences with dramatic repertoire (from Euripides, Shakespeare, to Jarry, Buchner, Nabokov, or Ghelderode), created an original project. Then, still as Teatr Epty-a, they staged a performance titled “Kabaret Mumio” in 1998. Shortly after their debut, the group was named one of the greatest discoveries of the Polish stage.
…and that was 25 years ago.
Over these 25 years, “Kabaret Mumio” has been performed hundreds of times, and the following shows have reached the theater stage: “The Soldering Iron, but not a gun, just a flask,” “Welcome Home Boys,” “Such a Mix,” “Someone Knocked on My Boot,” and “Przybora at 102.”
The actors have appeared in many film, theater, and advertising projects. Darek Basiński created RadioWizję Mumio, and Jacek Borusiński discovered in himself a rare gift for reading situations captured in photographs, called “Fotosłysze.”
Especially for you, after 25 years, the actors of the Mumio group – Darek, Jacek, and Jadzia will present a review of their work – 25 best pieces from 25 years of this group's creativity. There will also be new items…
