'Tristis Diabolus' is the third solo project by Paweł Szamburski - after 'Ceratitis Capitata' (a debut album dedicated to the liturgical music of the Mediterranean basin) and 'Uroboros' (dedicated to rites of passage).
'Tristis Diabolus' is a musical and verbal tale in which Szamburski, supported by the extraordinary texts of Marcin Wicha [sic!], touches upon the cultural phenomenon of the devil, the demon, the evil spirit. In the form of enchanting stories, fables, and songs, the artist explores the thin lines that delineate the boundaries of good and evil. He attempts to relieve the ancient figure of the Devil from the eternal cultural burden. At times, he tries to embody him, support him, empathize with him, or identify with him?
Everything unfolds in a coherent narrative defined by Wicha's successive works.
Thus, we look at the Devil in many shades, at his symbolic birth and life, at his dealings with humanity.
Finally, to see in him a victim or even a travesty of the sorrowful Christ, who bears the weight of all sins and is already simply tired, is sad.
We invite you!
