The trio responsible for the excellently received albums Hidden Sounds [Instant Classic, 2016] and God’s Body [Audio Cave, 2018] returns after a few years with fresh material.
The new, enigmatically titled album is the result of a two-day – as always in the case of JMB - improvised session, but there were also elements that had been prepared in advance. I have the impression that for some time now our improvisation has been becoming more and more 'programmed.' During concerts, recurring motifs appear, we also played from sheet music within certain structures, and the session was no different. Of course, these prepared elements evolve significantly, appearing in many variations – explains Jacek Mazurkiewicz. Contrary to this, […] it may be the most 'adventurous' and not easy to decipher material of the band. A few years of looser functioning in this personal arrangement has resulted in many other projects, which has translated into even greater diversity of the new album. I think our trio operates on the basis of certain contrasts, because although
operating in broadly understood improvisation, each of us understands and processes it differently. I currently feel the need to introduce a certain form even while improvising - to start from something and aim for something, which is not always present in free playing. Thanks to the fact that each of us brings our individual way of thinking, our music is more interesting – also for ourselves – summarizes Wojciech Jachna.
Wojciech Jachna – trumpet, cornet
Jacek Mazurkiewicz – double bass, electronics
Jacek Buhl – drums
