Seminar XVII The Reverse Side of Psychoanalysis

April 20th from 11:00-13:00 at Nowowiejski Hospital, ul. Nowowiejska 27, 00-665 Warsaw, lecture hall on the ground floor - room number 81 (or on ZOOM).
In the academic year 2023/2024, we continue our work on the Seminar, which marks an important moment in Lacan's teaching - giving the issue of jouissance a central place in the subject's psyche. Introducing the concept of the four discourses based on four elements such as: S1 - master signifier, S2 - knowledge, $ - divided subject, and (a) - object of surplus jouissance, Lacan firstly describes types of social bonds. Secondly, he confronts individual psychoanalytic experience with the issue of collectivity. Thus, the question of the politics of psychoanalysis takes on new meaning. Elements introduced in the seminar, such as questioning the Oedipus complex, problems of identification, gender issues, and ethics related to the psychoanalytic discourse, lead us to reconsider what the practice of psychoanalysis is - or should be - in today's times.
