How to fix a broken heart? How not to go mad from love? - an alternative Valentine's concert by the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw and the Copernicus Science Centre Can we understand love through music, science and the body? Is a broken heart only a metaphor, or a real medical problem? Where is the boundary between intense feeling and emotional madness? The creators of the unique concert-lecture “How to Fix a Broken Heart? How Not to Go Mad from Love?” will attempt to answer these questions. 📅 February 11 at 19:00 📌 Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw 🎻 The Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw will be conducted by Anna Sułkowska-Migoń. 🫀How to Fix a Broken Heart? - Prof. Zbigniew Nawrat 🤯How Not to Go Mad from Love? - Maja Herman ❓Quiz “Desires” - Irena Cieślińska Tickets are available at the box office of the Polish Radio Concert Studio and online at - https://www.bilety24.pl/kup-bilet-na-682-jak-naprawic-zlamane-serce-jak-nie-oszalec-z-milosci-alternatywny-koncert-walentynkowy-orkiestry-polskiego-radia-w-warszawie-i-centrum-nauki-koper-147284?id=874106#overall The evening combines symphonic music, science and pop culture, creating a multi-threaded story about love — from innocent infatuation, through obsession and the physiological effects of emotions, to distance and irony. The concert program guides listeners through successive stages of the experience of love. The intimate opening — “Witek and Alina” from the film Chronicle of Amorous Accidents by Wojciech Kilar — introduces the world of first feeling. Next, excerpts from Adolphe Adam’s ballet Giselle show romantic and physical love expressed in movement and dance. Prof. Zbigniew Nawrat, a distinguished physicist and habilitated doctor of medical sciences, will speak about how to fix a broken heart: the originator and chief designer of the Robin Heart cardiac surgery robot (the first Polish and European robot for heart operations). The first part of the concert will close with another piece by Wojciech Kilar, Orawa — music based on rhythm and pulse, evoking the work of the heart and the communal nature of emotions. The second part of the evening will open with a piece everyone knows but rarely hears live: Maurice Ravel’s Boléro — a musical portrait of obsession, compulsion and mounting tension. It will serve as a musical prologue to a lecture by Maja Herman — psychiatrist, psychotherapist and medical influencer — who will try to outline the boundaries between love and obsession. The musical main course of the evening will be the Prelude to Richard Wagner’s music drama Tristan und Isolde — one of the most famous musical depictions of absolute love bordering on madness. The evening will conclude with the quiz “Desires”, prepared by Irena Cieślińska, director of the Copernicus Science Centre and an excellent author of popular science texts. Sensual puzzles will be accompanied by music in which pulse, love, desire and madness intertwine into one: tango! The concert-lecture “How to Fix a Broken Heart? How Not to Go Mad from Love?” is an offer for everyone who wants not only to listen to music but also to better understand the emotions that govern it. It is a meeting of art, science and experience — in a space that for years has fostered deep reflection and high-quality sound.
