We invite you to a special meeting with Stanisław Łubieński – winner of the 2025 “Polityka” Passport in the book category, a cultural studies scholar and nature enthusiast.
We will talk about the nature that accompanies us in the city, about the relationship between humans and the surrounding world, and about the sensitivity we can learn from animals and plants. A starting point will be, among others, the book “The Second Life of the Black Cat”, awarded the “Polityka” Passport in 2025.
This will be a meeting for everyone – regardless of age. Free admission.
About the author:
- Stanisław Łubieński – cultural studies scholar and Ukrainian studies specialist, a naturalist by passion.
- Author of the essay Twelve Magpies by the Tail, distinguished with the Nike Readers’ Award 2017, and the book The Second Life of the Black Cat, for which he received the 2025 “Polityka” Passport in the book category.
- He has collaborated, among others, with “Gazeta Wyborcza”, “Tygodnik Powszechny” and “Dwutygodnik”.
- Co-author of the film series Warsaw Cultural Melting Pot, devoted to the lives of immigrants in Warsaw.
- Connected with nature since childhood: he runs the Dzika Ochota blog, organizes nature walks and popularizes knowledge about urban fauna and flora.
- Host of the radio Trójka programme The Kingdom of Birds and president of the board of the Nationwide Society for the Protection of Birds.
Hosting:
- The meeting will be led by Paulina Ornatowska – author of artistic projects, photographer and illustrator, educator, Doctor of Cultural Studies. She runs art workshops for diverse audiences and shares knowledge and skills. Through her work she also seeks to familiarize and normalize topics related to mental health and conscious animal care.
