"Winter Journey" by Franz Schubert

The program features the monumental song cycle "Winter Journey" op. 89 by Franz Schubert – one of the most moving works in the history of vocal music. It is a powerful tale of loneliness, longing and journeying – both physical and spiritual.

This is a unique opportunity to experience this Romantic journey in an intimate space and the special atmosphere of a concert hall.



Biographies:



Tomasz Raff – bass
A graduate of the Universität der Künste Berlin and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Guest soloist at the Grand Theatre – National Opera, the Polish Royal Opera and the Baltic Opera. He has performed roles such as Sarastro, The Commendatore, Daland and Mephistopheles on stages in Poland and Germany. Ambassador of Mieczysław Weinberg’s oeuvre – author of premieres and recordings of his songs (album "Weinberg – Mother tongue"). Also active in oratorio repertoire (e.g. Bach Passions, Handel’s "Messiah", Mozart’s "Requiem"). Co-founder of the o.to.ja. Foundation.



Anna Mikolon – piano
A professor of the arts, graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, winner of the 1st prize at the Early Music Competition in Łódź. A pianist with a rich chamber and solo career (over 1,400 concerts at home and abroad), long-time coach of soloists at the Baltic Opera. Author of a monograph and numerous recordings, honored with the title "Meritorious for Polish Culture".
