About the event

Common Gathering 2026

29 May 2026 | Kraków | Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology

The Common Gathering is the first nationwide meeting of readers and supporters of Tygodnik Powszechny, centered on a series of lectures and conversations with the paper’s editors, journalists and collaborators. We want the Common Gathering to be a place for in-depth debate and conversations about the most important social issues that concern us today.

The gathering will be honored by a concert by Grzegorz Turnau, who will perform a repertoire selected especially for supporters of Tygodnik Powszechny.

Venue: Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Kraków.

The main speakers you will hear at the Common Gathering:

  • Ks. Adam Boniecki, senior editor
  • Jacek Stawiski, current editor-in-chief
  • Piotr Mucharski, who served as editor-in-chief in 2011 - 2025

There will also be presentations by distinguished guests and long-time collaborators of Tygodnik Powszechny:

  • Eliza Kącka
  • Prof. Bogdan de Barbaro
  • Marcin Napiórkowski
  • Tomasz Stawiszyński

The conversations will be hosted by:

  • Ewelina Burda
  • Katarzyna Kubisiowska
  • Monika Ochędowska
  • Michał Okoński
  • Marek Rabij

(the full agenda will be published soon)

After each presentation we have allocated time for questions, comments and open discussion with participants.

Community energy: a meeting with the authors of Tygodnik and its readership community

  • The Common Gathering is more than a staged program.
  • It is an opportunity to get to know the editorial team from the inside, have conversations behind the scenes and exchange ideas among people with similar sensibilities.
  • We will meet in a group of about 250 people for whom words, meaning and responsibility for public debate still matter.
  • If you have ever thought while reading Tygodnik Powszechny, "I would like to take part in this conversation" — this is the moment.

Finale: concert by Grzegorz Turnau

To close the day, Grzegorz Turnau will perform a concert prepared especially for the readers of Tygodnik Powszechny. Kraków, poetry and musical reflection — a natural complement to a day full of conversations.

Included with the ticket:

  • participation in the first-ever Common Gathering
  • meetings and discussions with "TP" authors
  • real opportunity to ask questions and join the debate
  • an exceptional concert by Grzegorz Turnau

VIP area: a joint dinner with guests and the editorial team — a space for less formal conversations and relationship building.

Important information:

  • Tickets: please buy thoughtfully — we do not refund unused admission tickets.
  • Changes: the organizer reserves the right to make changes to the program.
  • Information: promocja@tygodnikpowszechny.pl
  • Organizer: Tygodnik Powszechny Sp. z o.o.

This will be the first day of its kind. The first such meeting. And — we hope — the beginning of a new tradition.
