    About the event

As part of the Labyrinth Borges festival, we invite you to the bookstore of the State Publishing Institute at Foksal 17 in Warsaw for a discussion on whether the Argentine master, the hero of the festival, can be placed into a genre-specific drawer. Discussing Borges' work and the impact of his influence on contemporary Polish literature will be: - Barbara Sadurska, writer, author of "Mapa" (Nisza 2019) - Wojciech Chmielarz, writer, author of the series of novels about Commissioner Jakub Mortka (Marginesy) - Wojtek Gunia, writer, apostle of Polish weird fiction, author of "Nie ma wędrowca" (C&T) The discussion will be moderated by Anna Karczewska. 📅 October 8, 6:00 PM 📍 PIW Bookstore The meeting is part of the Labyrinth Borges festival. A hundred years ago, in 1925, Jorge Luis Borges published his first prose book in Argentina: Inquisiciones (Inquiries). It's a slight pretext, but any excuse to reread and discuss the works of the Argentine Master is a good one. In 2025, the State Publishing Institute invites you to participate in events as part of the Labyrinth Borges festival. Having exerted a tremendous influence on the shape of world literature, Borges remained faithful to the belief in the multiplicity of meanings, in the face of which humanity feels helpless. The festival aims to invite young readers to explore his works, summarize and revise the contexts of Borges' creations, and seek new paths for them. The event's partner is the Cervantes Institute.
