Dom Kultury Świt together with Dom Kultury Zacisze cordially invite you to events as part of the Think, Don’t Waste campaign and the Get to the Point project. 📅 September 13 - Dom Kultury Świt - patio - 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Neighborhood Swap This is an important step towards reducing waste, an event in the spirit of zero waste, where you can exchange unnecessary clothes, books, toys, games, jewelry, and plants, and get to know your neighbors. Air out your closets, dressers, and drawers – choose items you don’t use but are in good condition (clean, complete, undamaged). Due to limited space, each participant can bring up to 20 items. On the day of the event, leave the items you brought on specially prepared tables and check out what other participants have brought. It’s an opportunity to find something for yourself and enjoy treasures from the second-hand market. Note: The organizer is not responsible for the condition of the items being given away or exchanged. Participation in the event implies acceptance of the Neighborhood Swap Regulations. - 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Culinary Meeting Did you know that every second, 150 kilograms of food are thrown away in Poland? Food waste has a devastating impact on the planet and our wallets. That’s why all EU countries are obligated to reduce culinary waste by at least half. We’ll discuss the recovery plan and the zero waste challenge “from the kitchen” during creative meetings. It will awaken an appetite for reducing waste and using products without leftovers. Sylwia Majcher will lead workshops showing how to creatively use food leftovers and turn them into tasty, unexpected dishes. The inspiration will be the most commonly wasted products, according to the list by the Federation of Polish Food Banks and the PROM project. This is a practical lesson in reducing waste, full of simple tricks and culinary surprises. Host: Sylwia Majcher – ecological educator, journalist, and author of several books, including the bestseller “I Cook, I Don’t Waste. Zero Waste Cooking in Polish.” - 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Colorful Cosmetic Bags Workshop - Sewing from Old Clothes During these creative workshops, we’ll give a second life to old clothes and materials lying around in closets. We’ll use jeans, shirts, dresses, or colorful fabric scraps to create unique, handmade cosmetic bags. Participants will learn the basics of cutting and sewing, from designing the shape, cutting the pattern, to sewing the elements together and adding zippers or decorations. - 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM Small Appliance Repair Café The Repair Café is a unique event promoting the zero waste idea, where you can repair your damaged small household or electronic appliances for free – instead of throwing them away! How does it work? Each adult participant can submit one item for repair. If time and the queue allow, additional devices can be repaired. Repairs are carried out by experienced Experts present on-site. They will assess whether the repair is possible and justified. Basic tools for self-repair will also be available. The events are part of the “Think, Don’t Waste” campaign and the Get to the Point project funded by the City of Warsaw, implemented in partnership with Dom Kultury Zacisze. As part of the project, events are organized exclusively for adult participants. During all events, a map of good practices will be created – places where you can buy second-hand items, repair, or donate objects.
